I don’t need to enumerate all the atrocities that are the daily thoughts, words and deeds of a few people in powerful positions right now.
I do call us to prayer.
Is a prayer only an ineffectual act of someone retreating into a cocoon? Transformation and creation change the one who will emerge to affect the world for the Good however small they are.
In constructing something, whether two- or three-dimensional, whether physical or spiritual, we can imagine lines of movement between points, nodes which are placed at points or moments of turning. These nodes are places or times of change. Some are major turns, but most are minute changes with long term consequences. The infinite complexities of the masses of humans throughout history indicate the intentional building of something farther reaching than we can comprehend.
In astrophysics where sizes and distances are vast, the smallest change makes monumental differences light years away. As we realize our places in the progression of the universe, our delicate, complex selves mark changes for the Good or Bad with significant outcomes both now and far off in time and space.
Each person is a node of change in the concert of forces moving the development along. In prayer we acknowledge and allow the changes of growth in ourselves as members of the progressing universe. From this inner change come outer behaviors in material, creative word, and deed, like seeds germinating unseen before the newness becomes visible.
May it be
In the future of Love
That undoers of Creation
Will transform into
Sitting in silence
Learning the glory
Of colors changing
On morning clouds drifting
And tiny creatures
Singing through the air.
May it be
That choosing not to kill
Becomes the way of life
Transforming us,
World changing
Into an Unknown
We sensed long ago
But fought in fear
Of losing precious things.
May it be
That growing and learning
Will pass us through
The portal into the expanse
Beyond need
Where sufficiency
Is assumed
In every mind
And our movement
Is fulfilling all
Our contributions
To the Body Universe
Expanding eternally.
