Mark Turner wrote the poem “Beautify, Oh” as a prayer from his own devotional life. The film “A Prayer for Beauty” is an expansion on the poem visualized by Turner’s photography and drawings over a period of about seven years. The text of each poetic line and the images are woven together in dramatic movement, morphing across the screen rendering surprises on several levels. The sound track which he composed draws from masters such as Maurice Ravel, Gustav Holst, Bela Bartok and Samuel Barber, combining instruments, choral singing and verse choir with sounds from nature.
